WHY YOUR GROWTH ISN'T JUST FOR YOU
We often think of growth as a personal achievement, a private journey we embark on for our own fulfilment. But the truth is, we don’t grow just for ourselves. We grow for those who are watching, for those waiting quietly to be inspired, and for those who don’t yet believe it’s possible.
The Motivation Problem
Over the years, I’ve learned that the biggest mistake we make — and I’ve made it too — is relying on motivation to keep us moving. Motivation is slippery. It rises with a burst of energy, then vanishes the moment life shifts. The urgent things push their way forward, and suddenly, what mattered so deeply yesterday becomes an afterthought today.
Motivation is fuel for a moment. It gives you a reason to act, but when those reasons change — and they always do — fear creeps in, discomfort takes the driver’s seat, and your focus narrows to survival instead of progress. That’s why I stopped leaning on motivation to get me through.
The Gift of Inspiration
Inspiration is different. Inspiration is not a fleeting reason; it’s a steady flame. It is a continuous state of being moved to act. When you keep your source of inspiration in front of you, it becomes the anchor that holds you steady, even when storms come.
That’s why I often ask myself:
- Where is my inspiration coming from?
- Is it strong enough to withstand the highs and lows of life?
- Am I using my own story to light the way for others?
You should ask yourself too. Because even if you’ve “made it” — your goals are met, your finances are in order, your children are grown — your work isn’t finished. Growth isn’t a finish line. It is a call to pour out what you’ve gained so that someone else can see what’s possible for them.
This is why I share my journey — not just the victories, but also the struggles, the fears, and even the downright messy parts. If my story inspires one person to take the next step, then the uncomfortable vulnerability is worth it.
Your growth may feel personal, but it has a ripple effect. Someone is waiting for you to show up, not as perfect, but as proof. So keep growing. Keep showing up. Your light is not just for you; it is the beacon that helps someone else find their way.
