MAKE RESILIENCE YOUR POSTURE

In some parts of the world, hurricanes are not unexpected visitors. For those who live in these regions, there is rarely shock or panic when the warnings are issued. Why? Because preparation is part of their way of life. They reinforce their homes with fortified windows, stock up on food and water, and keep sandbags ready to combat flooding. Valuables are moved to higher ground, and when the call to evacuate comes, they act swiftly. Their calm is not because the storm is harmless, it is because they have chosen preparation over panic.

I often think of how this mirrors our own lives. None of us is immune to storms. In life and in business, we will all experience seasons where it feels as though the ground beneath us is shifting—unexpected losses, setbacks, disappointments, or emotional upheavals. These storms may not come with a weather forecast, but they are no less real. And just like those who live in hurricane-prone areas, we too must prepare.

Resilience is not about pretending the storm won’t come. It is not wishful thinking or blind optimism. Resilience is the decision you make before the storm arrives. It is choosing in advance that when the winds rise, you will not collapse with them.

Think of it this way: when a hurricane warning is issued, no one sits idly by, hoping the storm changes its mind. They act. They brace their homes, safeguard what matters most, and make provisions to endure. In the same way, we must strengthen our inner foundations, build communities of support, and nurture faith and courage that will carry us when life becomes difficult.

Resilience does not mean you won’t lose anything in the storm. You may lose opportunities, possessions, even relationships. But resilience is holding fast to what matters most—the vision, the faith, the core of who you are—and refusing to let go.

Decide today that no matter what comes, you will survive and thrive. Make resilience your posture, not in response to the storm, but long before it arrives. That is the essence of true strength.
