WHAT STORIES DO YOU LISTEN TO?
The stories you listen to most eventually become the blueprint you build your life upon.
For a long time, the dominant narrative around entrepreneurship sounded the same. Corporate career. Safe progression. Then, at some point, a confident leap into business ownership. That story was everywhere. And because it wasn’t my story, I quietly assumed I was already at a disadvantage.
I started from a completely different place. A different world altogether. When you believe you’re behind before you’ve even begun, it changes how you build. You hesitate and second-guess every decision. You question your instincts. And eventually, what you create lacks the strength to carry the weight of your vision.
Everything shifted the moment I stopped measuring my journey against someone else’s map. When I chose to own my path, fully and unapologetically, confidence followed. It wasn’t because things suddenly became easier, but because I stopped fighting the fact that my journey was meant to look different. The more I embraced the uniqueness of my journey, the more confident I became in walking it, even when it looked nothing like anyone else’s.
There is a quiet freedom that comes when you allow your story to be your own. When you stop borrowing other people’s narratives and start honouring the one unfolding right in front of you. Other people’s stories can inspire you. They can encourage you. But they were never meant to become your blueprint. They weren’t written for your foundation, your calling, or your unique set of circumstances. The more original your path is, the more courage it will demand. But that courage is also your confirmation. It’s often the clearest sign that you are exactly where you’re meant to be.
So listen carefully to the stories you allow to shape you. Let them inspire, rather than instruct. And trust that your journey, precisely because it is yours, is worthy of being walked with confidence.
