Why It Is Never Too Late to Act
Last week, I drove past a hearse. It is one of those occurrences that usually blends into the background of a busy schedule. But this time, it made me pause. It reminded me of a truth that is both simple and deeply uncomfortable. The reality is this: you cannot be in two places at once. You are either here—alive, breathing, and fully equipped with the ability to act—or you are not. There is no middle ground.
And the inescapable conclusion of that truth? If you are still here, there is still work for you to do.
In business, I constantly see how incredibly easy it is to fall into a trap of our own making. We harbour the quiet, nagging belief that we have somehow missed our window. We convince ourselves that we are too late, that we have fallen too far behind our peers, or that we are simply too underprepared to take a leap.
Think about the risk you have been circling for months, perhaps even years. What is truly holding you back? More often than not, it is the illusion that the perfect moment has passed. We wait for a sense of absolute readiness, completely forgetting that readiness is built in the doing, not in the waiting.
Let me offer you a different perspective today. If your time to make an impact was truly over, you would not be here to worry about it. Because you are still here, a distinct responsibility remains for you. The duty of using your unique gifts, of building something meaningful, and of contributing your vision to the world still belongs entirely to you. You have not been disqualified by time or circumstance.
Do not fall for the illusion that you are helpless, unable, or that it is simply too late to start. The world needs the business, the idea, and the leadership that only you can provide. Your presence today is the only permission you need. You are here. So begin. Act.
