FOLLOWING TOO MANY TRUTHS IS KEEPING YOU STUCK

As entrepreneurs and leaders, we are constantly bombarded with information. Open any social media app or attend any networking event, and you will immediately be met with a chorus of voices telling you exactly how you ought to be running your enterprise. They all sound incredibly inspiring, and if you aren’t careful, it becomes dangerously easy to accept everything they tell you.

But I have come to realise a crucial lesson: one of the greatest hindrances in business is accepting too many truths.

We see this happen the moment you begin following multiple industry gurus or thought leaders. One expert insists that you must grow slowly and organically, building deep roots. The next voice loudly declares that you must scale up as fast as possible to capture the market. One advisor tells you to seek out investment immediately, another warns you to bootstrap and never give a single percentage of your company away.

The trouble with all of this advice isn’t necessarily that it is wrong. Many of these strategies can be entirely true at the exact same time—but they are true for different businesses, in different seasons. The reality is that you cannot walk multiple paths at once.

Trying to do so only leads to one destination: overwhelm, confusion, and a deep sense of uncertainty. Eventually, that uncertainty breeds disappointment. Meanwhile, your confidence begins to quietly fade because, in the back of your mind, a voice is whispering that you should know exactly what to do by now.

But why do we do this to ourselves? Why do we eagerly embrace so many conflicting truths? If we are completely honest, it is because we would rather be right than risk failure. We desperately prefer the illusion of certainty. We want the guarantee that we are moving forward because it feels safe. Failure has unfortunately been painted as something deeply shameful—a fate to be avoided at all costs. But this is a flawed perspective. Failure is not a final destination; it is a vital source of wisdom and the ultimate launchpad for genuine growth.

I say all of this because I have been there. There were times in my own journey of building a brand where trying to follow too many ‘truths’ left me completely stuck. The noise of everyone else’s success formulas drowned out my own intuition, and instead of moving forward, I was paralysed by indecision. If that sounds painfully familiar to you, I want to help you cut through that noise today.

Your path is uniquely yours. You already carry exactly what you need to walk it successfully. Yes, absolutely seek out wise counsel and get advice from those who have gone before you. But never let their advice drown out your own inner voice. You do know what to do. You simply have to peel back the layers of doubt and give yourself the permission to step forward on your own terms.
