DREAM BOLDLY

This morning, while visualising a project I’m working on, I allowed myself to imagine the launch day. I pictured the words I would use to introduce it, the feelings in the room, the responses I might receive. And then, mid-thought, I stopped.

The words I was rehearsing didn’t feel bold enough. They weren’t big enough.

That pause led me to an important realisation: I was using the emotional resources of today to plan for a version of myself that doesn’t exist yet. By the time this dream becomes reality, I will no longer be the woman I am right now. I will have grown in courage, in wisdom, and in confidence. I may not even recognise myself.

Too often, we reduce our vision to fit the size of who we are today. We look at our limited knowledge, finances, or strength and conclude: this dream is too big for me. But the truth is, we are not dreaming for today’s self; we are dreaming for tomorrow’s. By the time your dream is ready to be held, you will have become the person who is capable of carrying it.

One of my favourite TV series is Columbo. What makes it so fascinating is that you already know who committed the crime at the very beginning. The rest of the episode is simply about collecting the evidence to prove it. Our journeys are much the same. The ending has already been written. God knows who you are becoming. What remains is the process of gathering the evidence — the growth, the resilience, the wisdom — that reveals the person you are meant to be.

So don’t hold back. If you are committed to doing the work and allowing God to shape you, then dare to dream boldly. The strength, the knowledge, the resources will be added to you as you go.

The Scripture reminds us: “Add to your faith, moral excellence; and to moral excellence, knowledge.” (2 Peter 1:5). Your dream is not too big. You are simply in the process of becoming big enough for it.
